![]() On October 7, 2019, the Old Roman Catholic Church (English Rite) and the Old Roman Catholic Church in Great Britain re-affirmed their commitment to unity and established a formal intercommunion under the title of The Old Roman Catholic Union. This is notable as both churches descend from Archbishop Arnold Harris Mathew and were previously unified during the time of Archbishops Wilfred Barrington-Evans and Robert Alfred Burns. The churches lost contact circa 1974 but with the establishment of the Old Roman Catholic Union they have agreed to again partner together to build up the Body of Christ. Signing the document were Archbishops from each church which included Floyd Kortenhof, Douglas Lewins, and William Myers. On the feast of Saint Venantius, the Priestly Society of Mercy celebrated the ordination of Father George Ontko, SSM! Family and friends came from as far as South Carolina to witness the joyful celebration in Cleveland. Also in attendance were Roman Catholic and Episcopal clergy to celebrate the special day. Following the ordination there was a festive meal. Father George's first Mass was held on Saturday. Please continue to pray for him and his ministry. The Oratory of Our Lady of Victory in Goshen, KY was solemnly blessed by Archbishop Douglas Lewins on October 18th. A Mass celebrating St. Luke, whose feast was commemorated, followed the blessing. On October 11th, 2015 the grave of Archbishop Carmel Henry Carfora was solemnly blessed with a new headstone. This was secured through the efforts of Canon Kelly, to whom the Church is truly grateful. Following the blessing the clergy and faithful gathered at St. Anne's Mission for a Pontifical Low Mass celebrated by Archbishop Lewins. Br. Jamie Alaniz received the order of Doorkeeper during the Mass. Afterwards a reception was held in the parish hall. We were honored to have Archbishop Kortenhof as a special guest. |
