Companions of Mercy

About

Picture
Companions of Mercy are those who seek to support the mission of the Society of Mercy more closely. To become a Companion, a person must:

1. Profess belief in the Nicene Creed, the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and at least 7 grace-giving sacraments
2. Affirm the role of Mary in salvation as Mother of God
2.  Proclaim God's mercy and seek to implement and commit acts of mercy in his/her life
3. Pray daily for the Society of Mercy. The suggested prayer of the Society:

O Lord Jesus, bless the work of the Society of Mercy. Keep its members faithful to your teaching. Help them be instruments of your mercy. Grant it an increase in vocations so that your holy sacraments may be offered to all in need. O Mother Most Holy, intercede for its members and guide them to holiness. Amen.

Benefits

The benefits of membership are that one links him/herself spiritually to the Society and receives the graces of association with the Society. Members also:
1. Are remembered at Holy Masses offered by clergy of the Society
2. Connection to a community of believers seeking to profess God's mercy and show it in their actions

As with all things, what you "get out" of being a Companion correlates to the time and effort you spend in prayer, study, works of mercy, and financial support of the Society (where possible).

Enroll

Enrollment occurs by filling out a form. After a person enrolls, it is desirable that they seek out a priest of the Society to ratify their commitment by public blessing. The priest will then notify the Society of the date/place of the blessing.
